Actgenix Announces Early Achievement of Mission Goal by the ‘Energy for Life’ Oil & Gas Executive Committee.
The Committee Successfully Defined 50-Strategies to help Reduce Stroke and Cardiovascular Stressors in the Workplace!

Houston, TX — 5/15/2026 — Actgenix is proud to announce that the ‘Energy for Life’ Oil and Gas Executive Committee, led by its Chairman, and President of Actgenix, Tom McCloud, working in partnership with Oil & Gas Executives, Medical Experts, and the American Heart Association (AHA), accomplished its primary Mission Goal more than forty days ahead of schedule.
Consortium for Stroke and Heart Health
This Committee represented a specialized consortium of twenty-two members serving as a crucial link between the world’s largest Medical District region and the global headquarters for the Oil and Gas Energy Sector. This committee comprised of top oil and gas executives, distinguished Cardiologists and Neurologists, and regional leaders at the American Heart Association. In alignment with its Mission objective, their main achievement was creating fifty strategies to help identify and address stressors contributing to heart attacks, strokes, and cardiac arrests among industry professionals, contractors, and their families.
Committee member and Vice President of Project Services for Actgenix, Emmanuel Cavazos, shared: “We identify factors hindering industry professionals from advancing healthier living in the workplace. The collaboration between healthcare specialists, industry leaders, and AHA staff was essential in developing a detailed 25-page Executive Summary. This systematic guide addresses key challenges, outlines prioritized strategies, and offers procedures for implementing these solutions aimed at reducing risk stressors causing stroke, heart attack, or cardiac arrest in both office settings and field operations.”
Reducing Stressors Leading to Stroke and Heart Issues
Following months of committed effort, the Committee offers this beneficial help for sector employers, employees, and contractors to assess their worksites, drive meaningful improvements, and increase stress awareness to encourage healthier living.
The Committee’s Executive Summary highlights the group’s dedication to accomplish the Mission, and details practical steps for the industry to follow. Roderick Larson, President and CEO of Oceaneering, and Chairman of the Houston American Heart Association Board, stated his appreciation to Tom McCloud, Committee Chairman, “Great summary, Tom. Thanks for sharing and, especially, for your outstanding support for AHA.”
Committee members collaborated in-person and virtually to advance sector interests. Additionally, the committee undertook a field visit to Houston Cardiovascular Associates for Calcium Testing. This initiative provided participants with valuable insights into their personal health and demonstrated how employees, contractors, and their families may establish baselines for ongoing health monitoring.
Strategic Phased Approach
Beginning in 2025, the committee adopted a phased approach to achieve its goal. During the first phase, members held monthly meetings to address vital issues such as AED accessibility and training, prevention of strokes and heart problems, and ways to lower after-hours work stress. They discussed challenges faced by oil and gas employees, professional contractors, and their families, focusing on potential stressors like long rotation shifts, overnight work, frequent travel to worksites, and sedentary office environments. The group explored both obstacles and possible solutions in detail.
These discussions were organized into three main categories: helpful ongoing company actions with detailed plans, new initiatives to implement right away, and assumptions or practices to avoid for improved results. Committee members examined each scenario, identified challenges, and developed strategies to address them.
Medical Committee member Dr. Rajan R. Gadhia, MD and Stroke Neurologist, remarked, “Tom, it was great working with this stellar group! Despite a busy clinical schedule, participating in the committee was always rewarding because of the collaborative environment you helped foster and the caliber of individuals involved.”
Implementation Preparation
To ensure feasible implementation for the fifty strategies, the committee created a Master Log where strategies were ranked by value (high, medium, low) and ease of execution (easy, medium, hard). High-value, easy-to-execute strategies were prioritized as preliminary action items for companies and their leaders to initiate.
Phase two of the Executive Summary presents a structured, step-by-step method that enables any employer to support their workforce in reducing the heart and stroke stressors identified in Phase one. This section outlines how to render recommended strategies into actionable tasks, offers examples for documenting each step, designates responsible parties to assign tasks throughout implementation, and offers a process for tracking strategy performance against any observed deviations.

Committee member, David Baker, retired President and CEO, Balidor Oil & Gas, LLC stated, “The Committee’s ability to function as a cohesive unit, contribute our best, and overachieve our primary mission to exceed our original goal is a direct testament to our strategy, approach, and leadership of our Chairman. Through regular meetings and collaborative efforts, the executive volunteer committee completed its important work forty days ahead of schedule, developing over fifty health improvement strategies to reduce stressors linked to strokes and cardiac events for oil and gas industry professionals and their families.
With the primary mission accomplished, this update highlights the positive outcomes achieved by the AHA Houston “Energy for Life” Oil and Gas Executive Committee.

Houston, TX — 1/20/2026 — Actgenix is proud to announce that its President, Tom McCloud, has been named chairman of a newly formed Oil and Gas Executive Consortium, ‘Energy for Life’ comprised of senior executives from leading oil and gas companies and clinical experts working with AHA to advance cardiovascular initiatives in the oil & gas sector, led by Britta Schwab, Vice President of Development at the American Heart Association. This collaborative initiative aims to address and reduce the prevalence of heart attack, stroke, and cardiac arrest among employees, contractors, and their families throughout the oil and gas sector.
Industry Collaboration for Heart Health
The executive consortium represents a cross-section of influential leaders from the region’s oil and gas industry. Its mission is to develop and deploy targeted solutions that improve cardiovascular health outcomes for individuals who face unique risks due to the nature of their work. Special attention will be given to those on prolonged field rotations, traveling internationally to operational job sites, transitioning to day to night shifts, and those in sedentary roles. Dr. Sanket Borgaonkar, Interventional Cardiologist with Houston Cardiovascular Associates shared, “Prevention is the most powerful medicine we have. Early detection, healthier daily habits, and access to proven care, can stop heart disease before it starts, and help more people live longer, healthier lives.”
Addressing the Health Risks of Oil and Gas Professionals
Oil and gas professionals may be at elevated risk for cardiovascular events due to extended work hours, shift work, and demanding travel schedules. The consortium will focus on strategies such as preventive screenings, health education, emergency response planning, and wellness programs tailored to the industry’s operational realities. According to Dr. David Yao, General Cardiologist at Houston Cardiovascular Associates, “It’s important we work with Oil & Gas leaders to help people recognize the stressors leading to heart disease and provide real solutions to slow and reverse the progression of conditions leading to Cardiovascular related events, the leading cause of death for people across the USA.”
